This was our first pond, which was built in the early 1980s.  At that time, there were no filters available for goldfish ponds.  We used a pool filter and hoses to provide rudimentary filtration.  The pond was approximately 40 gallons and housed 4 fish in the summer.  Fish were over-wintered in aquariums during the winter.
